The Attractions of Le Marche…
The historic hill top town of Urbino with its charming steep streets, has UNESCO World Heritage status for representing ‘a pinnacle of Renaissance art and architecture’. Known as the “City of Travertine” for its creamy white facades, Ascoli’ Piceno’s historic center is an architectural gem. It is one of the region’s trendiest towns, with its 50 towers and public squares that buzz with activity, especially in the evenings, as locals settle in for a glass of wine and plate of regional food. Macerata, famous for its open-air opera theater, summer festival and university, combines charming hill town scenery, a maze of cobblestone streets and honey colored palazzi with a lively, contemporary vibe.
To the far west of Le Marche, bordering neighboring Umbria, the wild and wonderful national park of the Sibillini Mountains boasts dramatic natural scenery dotted with enchanting characteristic villages and towns. The area provides great opportunities for walkers and nature lovers during the summer and skiers in the Winter.
The dramatic Adriatic Coast of Le Marche has many blue flag beaches. Most are sandy, have break waters to provide safe swimming and every Adriatic resort has its own particular charm and supply of great shopping and restaurants
